OUR GENESIS
The Sociocultural Theory and Second Language Learning Research Working Group Meeting was first held at the University of Pittsburg in 1994. During that inaugural meeting, there were ten scholars who presented their work in progress.

OUR VISION

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
The Sociocultural Theory Second Language Learning Working Group is comprised of scholars from all over the world who share a common interest in Vygotskian Sociocultural Theory and second language learning. Once a year, we come together to discuss our understanding of Vygotsky’s work as applied to second language learning. This working group meeting differs from traditional conferences in that the presentation of completed work is discouraged. Instead, we present our work in progress and expect to receive feedback from our peers.
